NaNoWriMo ’09 – Day 30

You did it, writer.

Pitted against a merciless deadline and battling hordes of distractions—including the most tempting fall TV season that’s been unleashed upon novelists in decades—you kept at it.

Now you’ve arrived at a place that very few NaNoWriMo participants ever see: The winner’s circle. Overhead, the November sky is bursting with fireworks celebrating your victory, and the entire NaNoWriMo staff joins me in applauding your creative achievement.

You did something amazing this month, novelist. We couldn’t be prouder.

Another year of writing frenzy complete! What a month it has been. I’m happy to say that despite my doubt and worries, this year, NaNo seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye. There were times when I nearly went out of my mind but I managed to write 2,000 words almost every day (thanks to some competitive motivation) and stay ahead the entire way. 😉

The best thing that came from writing so much in such a little time? I fell in love with my story! Any writer will tell you there’s a point in the transition from the exposition into the meat of the plot that is a mind field. Before I finished my last novel, I would get caught in that quick sand every time, which is why I have several incomplete manuscripts sitting on my hard drive right now. I very well could have fallen into the same place this time as well but with National Novel Writing Month, I had to push through the hard times. Now I’m in the meat of it and even though NaNoWriMo is over, I can’t imagine stopping now. I’m just getting to the juicy stuff!

I want to thank my husband for putting up with another year of neglect, my friends and family for all their support (especially you, D!), and all my fellow writers who have kept me motivated. A special thanks to the Wrimos who have graciously welcomed me to their home region. You guys rock!

I’m going to rest my little fingers for a couple of days and then tackle the second half!

Congrats to all the other writers out there who made any progress this November! You’re all winners!

Since the setting is always an important part of her books, she is happy to call the Rocky Mountains of Northern Colorado her home and inspiration.

  2. Awww! Are you trying to make me cry? Lol! Thank you so much! I couldn’t ask for a better friend. I don’t know if I’d be able to do all the things I do without your unwavering support. You help me with all of these things more than you know.
